How to apply for assistance

The Nebraska United Methodist Conference has been awarded a $10,000 disaster relief grant from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). This money will be disbursed to disaster area victims via an application process; the application for is attached below. Please note that you do not have to be a member of a United Methodist church to receive assistance.

How to donate

A fund has been set up to receive donations towards flood relief in our state (not just in the northeast, but wherever there has been flooding). Make checks payable to "Conference Treasurer" and either turn in to your local church or mail to 3333 Landmark Circle, Lincoln, NE  68504. Please write “Nebraska Advance 869 — NE Flood Relief 2010” in the memo portion of your check.

Cleaning Buckets

These supplies enable people to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood or hurricane. 

 

Any individual or organization is welcome to assemble a bucket(s) and contact the Elkhorn Valley District office in Norfolk to arrange delivery. The district office phone number is 402-371-1313, or e-mail elkhornvalley@umcneb.org.

 

Each bucket is valued at $55. The contents of a bucket are listed below; for a printable list, click here.

  • 5-gallon bucket with resealable lid
  • Bleach (two 1-quart or one 82 oz. bottle
  • 5 scouring pads
  • 7 Sponges
  • 1 scrub brush
  • 18 cleaning towels (reusable wipes)
  • Liquid laundry detergent (two 25 oz. or one 50 oz. bottle)
  • 1 household cleaner, 12-16 oz. bottle
  • Disinfectant dish soap, 16-28 oz. bottle
  • 50 clothes pins
  • Clothes line (two 50 ft. or one 100 ft.)
  • 5 dust masks
  • 2 pair latex gloves
  • 1 pair work gloves
  • 24-bag roll of heavy-duty trash bags, 33-45 gallon (remove roll from box before placing in bucket)
  • 1 Insect repellant spray, 6-14 oz. can
  • 1 Air freshener, 8 or 9 oz. can
  • Note: All items included in kits must be NEW.
